Wellness exams
A nose-to-tail exam, weight, and the questions that belong in the chart before any vaccine is drawn up.
Westwood, MA 02090 · four people on the floor
Front desk
Short answers. If the case needs a clinician, the desk says so instead of guessing.
Dogs and cats. We do not board horses, and we do not run a 24-hour emergency ward. A bleeding emergency should go to an ER hospital, then come back here for follow-up.
Same day when the schedule has a gap. If it does not, the desk offers the next open slot or a short telehealth check so a plan starts before the drive.
Yes. Rabies certificates and the rest of the prevention record leave with you, and a copy stays in the chart under the name on the appointment.
A 20-minute telehealth consult can sort diet, medication, or whether the animal needs the exam table. Hands-on work still happens in Westwood.
The clinician
Carolyn Thorne still signs the visit note herself.
The practice sits at 248 Providence Hwy, Westwood, MA 02090. It is a single-member clinic, not a chain lobby. Four people cover the desk, the table, and the phone.
Eleven years on this highway means the chart often already knows the animal. New patients still get a full first evaluation: history, exam, and a written plan before you reach the parking lot.
On the schedule
Four lanes. If a case needs a specialist hospital, we say that on the note and send the records.
A nose-to-tail exam, weight, and the questions that belong in the chart before any vaccine is drawn up.
Core vaccines, rabies certificates, and parasite prevention matched to a Westwood dog or an indoor cat.
Vomiting, limping, itching, or a lump. We examine first, then name the test that would change the plan.
Oral exams and dental procedures scheduled as their own block, not squeezed between wellness slots.
After the visit
Notes left at the desk. First names only. These are not a review-site score.
They weighed the cat, showed me the ear, and wrote the dose on the bag before I asked.
Mara Follow-up, indoor catThe rabies certificate was ready when we reached the car. No second trip for a stamp.
Owen Wellness exam, dogVideo first, then a same-week table visit when the limp did not match a sprain.

Finding the door
248 Providence Hwy, Westwood. Park, come in with the leash or carrier, and give the desk the name on the chart. If you are new, say so — the first evaluation is the longer slot.
Same afternoon
Phone number, species, and the reason in one line. No clipboard novel.
Carolyn or the clinician on that block does the hands-on part.
We name the test and what a yes or no would do next.
Plan, doses, and the date we want you back, printed or emailed.
How the room works
You are not handed to a different brand each visit. The chart stays in this building.
248 Providence Hwy, Westwood, MA 02090. Records do not hop between towns.
The callback form does not book a slot by itself. The desk dials the number you leave.
Initial evaluation, follow-up, or a short video consult. You pick the shape. We pick up the phone.
